All radio operation in the UK is governed by the Wireless Telegraphy Act 2006 which requires that anyone wishing to operate a radio transmitter on the amateur bands must first obtain the necessary license. Radio Amateurs need to hold a licence issued by Ofcom in order to transmit legally in the United Kingdom.

SNADARC offer a range of help for anyone wishing to study and take the exam for whichever grade of amateur radio license they require.
